The weather was not ideal but the result of a win over Bluefield College  by the score of 3-2 for the Bears Mens Soccer team is exactly what they were looking for.

It was a day that would see a steady downpour from the first whistle to the last horn. "It was not pretty but we managed to find a way to win in spite of a lot of reasons to let this one get away," Head Coach Damian Westfield said.

In the first half the Bears defense made a bad play and allowed an easy score for the Rams.  The Bears then came back and capitalized on a penalty kick ny Josh Moffet to tie the score and the first half ended with a lot of wet soccer players and coaches and a game tied at 1-1.

In the second half both teams picked up their effort but it was the Bears behind the play of Nils Conway who kept the pressure on the defense up front and scored a goal assisted by James Rea to keep the Bears rolling.  He was helped out in the second half by James Serpas who scored on an assist from Ryan Danford and put the game away for good at 3-2.

"Overall we played well as a team today and took a step forward in reaching our potential," coach Westfield said.

The Bears imrove to 2-1 on the season and will be in action again at home on September 3 against Huntington College
