Despite a good team effort, the Lady Bears of TMC were not able to overcome the Eagles of Faulkner University on their home field on Saturday and lost 4-2.
The teams worked the ball up and down the field for the first twenty-five minutes until the Eagles finally scored, following up with another goal twelve minutes later. But the Bears were not giving up. With one minute and thirty-five seconds left on the clock, Meagan Taylor scored the Bear's first goal of the game, assisted by Hannah Eison.
The second half brought another goal by the Eagles, followed close behind with a second score for the Bears by Mallory Reynolds, set up again by Hannah Eison.
With a score of 2-3, both teams increased their intensity and effort: the Bears aiming to tie and have a shot at a lead, and the Eagles looking to extend their current lead and put the game away. Chalice Price found herself close in with an open look and fired off a clean shot straight for the net. The Eagles goalie was ready, however, and barely blocked it with her outstretched hand.
With five minutes remaining on the clock and the pressure of the game growing, the Eagles came through with the score that gave them the extra lead they wanted. The Bears couldn't make up the ground during the last four and a half minutes, and the game ended 2-4.
The Lady Bear's next match will be at Spring Hill College on Friday, September 28 in Mobile, Alabama.
