The Truett-McConnell Cross Country team hosted their first home meet in five years this past Saturday in front of a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters. The women's team continued to show signs of improvement as they finished 4th place overall.
"I was pleased with progress we showed today," said Head Coach Jarret Holland. "Today was a good day for our program. It's been a few years since we've hosted a race and it felt good to run in front of our home crowd. I felt like our ladies ran well as a team and we should continue to get stronger as we move forward. We're in the process of changing the culture on our women's team and you do that through hard work. All of the ladies on the team know the importance of practicing hard and trying to get better each week. I like the direction we're headed in as a team."
The Bears were led by Brittany Wells who finished 11th 23:23. She was followed closely by Hannah Barnes 12th 23:37. Lauren Tosky finished 15th with a time of 24:04, thus giving the Bears 3 finishers inside the top 15. Savannah Cartee (23rd overall; 24:54) and Ashley Tosky (24th overall; 25:13) rounded out the scoring for the ladies.
Truett-McConnell's next meet will be on Saturday, September 29th on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina. The ladies are scheduled to run at 9:00 a.m.
